The ALP guideALP: eight flavours, three strengths
What does an American brand bring to a British snus shelf? In ALP's case, a very tidy idea. There are eight flavours, and every one of them comes at 6mg, 12mg and 18mg a pouch. Nothing is kept back for a single strength, so the flavour you like is there at whichever level you use. Five of the eight are mint led and three are fruit. Every tin holds 20 pouches. That makes ALP an easy range to read, and an easy one to move around in.
This page takes the three strengths from lightest to strongest and names each flavour as it goes. After that it covers the brand, where each strength falls on our scale, what's in the tin and how to choose between the eight. Start here, then pick your tin.
01Who is behind ALP
ALP is an American brand. It started in the United States in 2024 and has been sold in the UK since July 2026. The eight flavours on this page are the brand's UK and European range, and the list tells that story in miniature. Chilled Mint, Mountain Wintergreen, Tropical Fruit and Spearmint are staples that came across from the American range. Cherries & Berries, Sweet Mint, Frostbite and Grape Ice were added for the launch on this side of the Atlantic.
A few more things come from the brand itself. Its slogan is A Better Time. It says a portion of every sale goes to causes it names, which are tree planting, the Warrior Dog Foundation for retired military service dogs, and Foster's Outriders for trade school scholarships in America. It also says its products are for adults who already use nicotine. That is ALP in its own words, and the tins say the rest.
02ALP on our strength scale
Our scale sorts snus into bands by the nicotine in each pouch. Light is anything under 8mg. Medium runs from 8mg up to 16mg. Strong runs from 16mg up to 25mg, and extreme is 25mg and over. ALP lands in three of the four, with one band for each strength. The 6mg tins are light, the 12mg tins are medium and the 18mg tins are strong.
The number on an ALP tin is the nicotine in a single pouch, which is the way our scale counts too, so there's nothing to convert. The steps are even as well, at 6mg a time. And 18mg is where ALP ends, so no tin in the range reaches the extreme band. Three strengths, three bands, and the same flavour list in each. Decide the band and the hard part is done.
03What's in the tin
Every ALP tin holds 20 pouches, whichever flavour and whichever strength you choose. ALP says its pouches contain no tobacco leaf, and it describes them as moist. The brand calls the container a tin and sometimes a can, so don't be thrown if you see both words. Because the count is the same across the range, moving between strengths is simple. You keep the flavour name and the 20 pouches you know, and the figure on the label is the thing to check.
04How to choose an ALP flavour
Settle the strength first, then turn to the flavour, because every flavour comes in all three. Mint is the larger family, and as ALP ranks them the five form a ladder. Sweet Mint and Spearmint are the lightest. Chilled Mint sits in the middle. Frostbite is the most intense, and Mountain Wintergreen stands to one side as the herbal one. So if you like your mint soft, look at Sweet Mint, and if you like it sharp, look at Frostbite.
With the fruits the names do most of the work. Tropical Fruit is the exotic blend, Cherries & Berries is the deeper one, and Grape Ice is the fruit with a cool finish. Still undecided? Pick the flavour closest to what you already buy, then choose it at your strength. If you only try one mint, Chilled Mint is the middle of the ladder and a sound place to begin.
