Mint with the pepper grinder out
Peppered Mint is the White Fox that comes with a twist of the pepper mill. It's peppermint with black pepper, in the bright green can with the white fox head on the lid, at 12mg a pouch. White Fox is made in Sweden by the company formerly called GN Tobacco, and the lid says Made in Sweden so there's no guessing. The maker says this one took months of trying different fragrant oil combinations from around the world before it was happy. On our shelf it sits with Original and Double Mint at the same 12mg, and it's the only one of the three with any heat in it. Twenty pouches, 15 g can, one bright green lid.
What it tastes like
Tastes like a peppermint that's been through the spice rack on the way out. The peppermint arrives first, clean and fresh, and then the black pepper comes in behind it with a warm, spicy edge that stays for the rest of the pouch. It's the pepper you'd grind over a dinner plate, not chilli, so the heat is gentle and dry rather than fiery. The mint keeps everything fresh while the pepper keeps it interesting. No fruit, no menthol, just mint and pepper doing a double act. The maker says the pouches are flavoured with essential oils, and this is the can that shows off what that can mean.
How strong it is
Each pouch carries 12mg of nicotine. On our scale that's in the medium band, which runs from 8mg to 16mg, a little past the middle. On the White Fox shelf here it's level with Original 12mg and Double Mint 12mg, above Double Mint 8mg and Original 1 Paw at 6mg, and one step below Full Charge at 16mg.
