Helwit's blueberry
A white can, target rings on the lid and a berry that needs no introduction. Helwit Blueberry is a blueberry flavoured snus at 4.5mg a pouch, in the slim format Helwit uses for every can it makes, 20 pouches to a can. Helwit is made by YOIK AB in Sweden, at its own factory in Gransholm outside Växjö in Småland, and the pouches contain no tobacco. The lid reads Nicotine 3/4, the maker's own grade, which is the middle step of its scale. On ours, 4.5mg is the light band. Fruit forward and easy going. A good place to meet the brand.
What it tastes like
Blueberry, sweet and rounded, the flavour of the berry at its ripest. It comes through straight away and stays steady, with a soft juiciness rather than a sharp edge. Tastes like the blueberries at the bottom of a muffin, warm and sweet, without the crumbs. There is no mint in this can and no cooling, so the finish is fruit all the way. Blueberry is the gentle berry, and Helwit keeps it that way.
How strong it is
Each pouch carries 4.5mg, which places Helwit Blueberry in the light band on our scale, from 1mg up to 8mg. The maker grades its cans out of four, and the lid here reads Nicotine 3/4, with 3.5mg at 2/4 and 6mg at 4/4 either side. Helwit also makes Blueberry at 9mg, which is the step up into the medium band on our scale. So this is the gentler of the two blueberries on our shelf, a can for the daytime rather than a moment. Light strength, full flavour.
