Plantain, turned all the way up
Somebody looked at a frying pan of ripe plantain, going gold at the edges, and thought that belongs on a lid. Fair play to them. Maggie Sweet Plantain 60mg is sweet ripe plantain in a slim white pouch, from the higher of the brand's two lines. The lid says MAGGIE over Original Jamaican Pouch, with a green palm tree behind and Sweet Plantain underneath. The can is yellow with a red rim, so it won't hide in a drawer. It's a warm, sweet flavour with a very large number next to it.
What it tastes like
Tastes like the last piece of fried plantain on the plate, the one everybody was politely eyeing. It's sweet and ripe, with a banana like roundness to it. Then there's a caramelised note, as if the fruit caught the pan just long enough to turn golden. The whole thing is warm and soft in character, and it keeps that shape from start to finish. Maggie names its cans after Caribbean drinks and food, and this is the one you'd eat with a fork. Sweet tooth required.
How strong it is
Every pouch holds 60mg, and there's no dressing that up as a small number. The shop's extreme band begins at 25mg, and this can is far beyond the entrance.
